“Reconsider” Penn State QB Drew Allar Urged to Change Mind About 2025 NFL Draft

In December, Penn State star quarterback Drew Allar announced his intention to return to Penn State for the 2025 season.

However, this has not stopped draft analysts and college football personalities from speculating Allar’s draft status if he were to enter the 2025 NFL draft.

National NFL Reporter Matt Lombardo suggested there may be one circumstance that could make Allar reverse course on his plans to return to Happy Valley.

“I do think if they win it all,” Lombardo posted on Threads during the Fiesta Bowl. “[Allar] could wind up changing his mind … I just don’t think he bails short of winning a ring. He could be the No. 1 pick in 2026.”

Here are some calls from NFL draft analysts and college football personalities for Drew Allar to reconsider his decision to return for another season at Penn State.

ESPN’s Matt Miller

On Wednesday after Penn State’s emphatic Fiesta Bowl win over Boise State, ESPN NFL draft analyst Matt Miller called Allar his “favorite QB in the 2025 Draft class if he entered.”

PFF’s Trevor Sikkema

During the Fiesta Bowl, PFF’s lead draft analyst Trevor Sikkema reposted PFF’s post regarding Allar returning to school, commenting only “Reconsider” after watching Allar’s first two touchdown passes.

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler

Once again during the Fiesta Bowl, the Athletic’s Dane Brugler reported that “several NFL GMs” believe Allar could “enter the 2025 NFL Draft with a strong playoff run.” Brugler continued that “teams are still heavily scouting him for the 2025 class.”

Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz

After the Fiesta Bowl win, Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz reported that Allar “continues to impress” as “NFL teams like his size (6-5, 235) arm strength (robust even by pro standards) and plus athleticism.”

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky also gushed over Allar’s performance against Boise State, calling it “one of, if not the best, games of Allar’s career for [Penn State] when it came to decision making in a muddy pocket, ball placement vs tight coverage, confidence hanging in the pocket, [and] playing faster with his eyes on 3rd downs.”

Will Drew Allar reconsider declaring for the 2025 NFL draft?

Drew Allar has impressed the nation with his arm talent in the past three games for Penn State.

While he “intends” to return to Penn State in 2025, it is hard to pass up being a first-round pick in the NFL draft. Allar will have at least one more game to impress NFL scouts before needing to make a final decision on whether to declare for the 2025 NFL draft or return for one more season.

Depending on how much praise he hears from NFL scouts after Penn State’s playoff run, Allar could seriously reconsider his decision if he looks likely to be a top 10 NFL draft pick in April.
