Drew Allar Report Card: Penn State Football Lights Up Michigan State 42-0

Penn State Football quarterback Drew Allar returned strong from the injury that kept him out of the second half of last week’s win over Rutgers, leading the Nittany Lions to a dominant 42-0 win over Michigan State to get Penn State’s 10th win of the season.

Unlike most other road games this season, Allar did not take long to settle in and move the ball downfield against MSU.

Allar finished the first half 13-19 for 180 yards and one touchdown, part of a 308 yard effort that saw Penn State hold a 13-0 at half. Even in those 6 incompletions, Penn State players dropped at least 3 of those passes.

Penn State Football In the second half, Beau Pribula continued to play decisively, picking up a key 3rd down conversion with his legs before hitting Omari Evans for 61 yards the following play. The 61-yard strike to Evans was arguably Allar’s best pass of the season. Early in the fourth quarter, Allar connected with Theo Johnson for his second touchdown of the day. Overall, Allar finished the night 17 for 26 for 292 yards and two touchdowns in one of his best performances of the season. Pribula looked great in limited action before garbage time, passing for one touchdown to Tyler Warren and running for another. All night, Allar went through his progressions in the passing game quickly and was very decisive with the football. One lone criticism of Allar’s game against Michigan State is taking sacks on third down. Two different Penn State Football drives stalled out and led to field goals after third down sacks taken. Allar and the offense will have 15 extra practices in bowl season to get even better heading into game 13 where ever Penn State is bowling and to get a head start on 2024. Allar has a pivotal off-season ahead to push his name up draft boards as he will be eligible after next season.

Drew Allar Grade from Penn State Football Win over Michigan State

Overall, Allar played better than he had in every matchup other than Maryland and West Virginia, giving him momentum heading into bowl season.  Grade: A-
