Head coach James Franklin and Penn State Football now awaits decisions from multiple top targets with the June official visit window now in the rearview mirror.
The problem is, the Nittany Lions may not see as many July fireworks as originally expected.
Penn State crushed its official visits with all of its top targets, with multiple predictions from every recruiting site pouring in directly after the visits.
Unfortunately, Penn State made its impressions early and left the door open for other schools to make the last pitch.

James Franklin, Penn State Football Must Adapt
It seems as though the Nittany Lions’ strategy of getting their top targets on campus early in the period and trying to get them to shut down their recruitments right then and there has backfired a bit.
Penn State did great work with the likes of 4-star WR Nick Marsh, 4-star DT Benedict Umeh, 4-star Jameer Grimsley and 3-star DT Deyvid Palepale, with each one receiving predictions to Penn State after their visit.
But, all of these targets went on to take other visits and now seem to be trending away from Penn State as they near a decision.
Grimsley did not even include Penn State in his final top three while Marsh, Umeh and Palepale all received expert predictions to other schools.

Penn State hosted only two official visitors during the last weekend of the visit period. James Franklin may need to rethink that philosophy next year and consider loading up the visits with top targets at the end of the month instead of early in it.
This will give Penn State Football the last say with these targets and be the last school on their mind heading into a commitment decision.
The Nittany Lions will still finish with a top 15 class, but it could’ve been even better if Penn State had the last say with multiple top targets.
