New coach Mike Gambino Has Bold Vision for Penn State Baseball

New Penn State Baseball head coach Mike Gambino has bold plans and big ideas for the program.

Gambino’s hiring has generated buzz throughout the college baseball world, and during his introductory press conference, Gambino backed up why the attention is merited for the Nittany Lions‘ new era.

On Tuesday, Penn State introduced Gambino, and right away he is making it known that what people already know about Penn State Baseball is going to be changing

“I want people to talk about us going to the College World series,” Gambino told reporters. “It’s something I want to talk about. It’s not about going to Omaha for the Big Ten Tournament. That tournament is great, it’s fun, and I’d like to take a shot at winning it.

“But, we want to go to the College World Series. I’m not going to hide behind that. I told this to the players, this place, to host a regional, at this place, and what I believe this town would do, to have a regional at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, I think it would be amazing.”


Gambino would also go on to say that “The state of Pennsylvania has really good baseball”

Now that Penn State has their person who wants to change the culture of baseball in happy valley, As you can see Football, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Volleyball, Wrestling, and Lacrosse are getting more attention.

Hiring Gambino is the kind of statement that Penn State is ready to to compete at the highest level nationally.
