New Penn State Basketball head coach Mike Rhoades has taken the transfer portal by storm, since his arrival in Happy Valley, and now the Nittany Lions have sights set on one of the top guards currently in the portal.
A report emerged on Monday that Penn State Basketball is one of the schools in the Mix for Niagara Purple Eagles guard Noah Thomasson.

Thomasson had an impressive senior season in 2023, averaging 19.5 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game. He shot an impressive 48% from the field and 39% from beyond the arc. The stats highlight Thomasson’s ability to score efficiently and create opportunities for his teammates on the court.
The news of Penn State Basketball’s interest in Thomasson is significant for the program.
Under new head coach Mike Rhoades, the Nittany Lions have been aggressive in their pursuit of talent through the transfer portal. The Lions have already added former Temple standout Zach Hicks from the portal, as well as a pair of Rhoades’ former players from VCU, Adrian “Ace” Baldwin Jr. and Nick Kern Jr.
With Thomasson being one of the top guards currently in the portal, his addition would certainly strengthen the roster.
Penn State Basketball is looking to build on their recent success, having made their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2011. The Nittany Lions will undoubtedly continue to make noise in the transfer portal as they seek to establish themselves as a top team in the Big Ten.
