What Yanic Konan Niederhauser Brings Penn State Basketball

Yanic is from Fraschels, Switzerland and is listed at 6’11”. He fills an immediate need for the Nittany Lions 2024-2025 basketball team, likely filling the role of since graduated Qudus Wahab. He played two seasons at Northern Illinois, as a freshman averaging just 2.2 points and 1.5 rebounds per game in 7.6 minutes.
He made a significant jump last year, averaging almost 20 minutes per game. He averaged 7.3 points per game, added 4.4 rebounds and a very impressive 2.1 blocks. He shot 54.1% from the field and a respectable 292% from three (after shooting 18.8% a year).

Why Yanic Konan Niederhauser is a Big Addition for Mike Rhoades
This is a crucial get for Mike Rhoades.
Konan-Niederhauser as now he has a big with two years of eligibility and the hope for two years of incremental growth.
After Demetrius Lilley departed for Drexel (and the aforementioned Wahab graduation), the Penn State Basketball frontcourt was incredible thin, featuring 6’8″ Puff Johnson, the 6’8″ Zach Hicks (assuming he stays) and their other transfer portal get this cycle so far, the 6’9″ center Kachi Nzeh (from Xavier).
While we wait for the official word on the return of Ace Baldwin (seems pretty safe he’s coming back?), Hicks and D’Marco Dunn and Nick Kern, we are starting to see the portal strategies of Mike Rhoades becoming clear for Penn State.
