Penn State Football 2025 Recruiting: Top Commits, Targets Shine in Rankings Update
One of the premiere recruiting services updated its 2025 player rankings on Monday, and Penn State Football was a big winner of the update.
On3 updated its top 300 recruits on Monday afternoon and multiple Penn State commits and top remaining targets saw a big jump in their rating.
Let’s start with the commits.
New linebacker commit Alex Tasch saw his stock skyrocket as he is now the No. 52 player in the country according to On3. Tasch was not a top-300 recruit for On3 before this update, making this one of the largest jumps not only for Penn State Football recruits, but recruits across the country.
Another recent Penn State commit, Lyrick Smauel, also made his debut on the On3 top 300, checking in at No. 235, solidifying his position as a 4-star recruit.
As for targets, none was more interesting than the jump quarterback Matt Zollers made.
The Pennsylvania product moved up from No. 164 all the way to No. 17, firmly putting him in 5-star territory and putting even more pressure on the Penn State staff to keep him home.
Another massive jump belongs to linebacker target Ty Jackson, who went from No. 267 to No. 16. With Penn State already having three linebackers committed in the 2025 class, the Nittany Lions can get selective about who they target now, and Jackson is at the top of the short list.
Another big-time target who made a jump is safety Kainoa Winston, the cousin of current Penn State safety K.J. Winston. He moved up from No.
103 to No. 103.
