Penn State Football Defensive End Out for Season, report says
Penn State Football defensive end Smith Vilbert is set to miss the 2023 season with an undisclosed injury, per Audrey Snyder of the Athletic.
In 2022, Vilbert played in 12 games and made one start.
The redshirt senior recorded three sacks in Penn State’s 2022 loss to Arkansas in the Outback Bowl (a Penn State bowl record) before missing 12 games last season, playing only in the Rose Bowl against Utah.
While Penn State Football is set at starter at defensive end, Vilbert was expected to be a rotational piece this season for the Nittany Lions and the injury deals a blow to depth at the position.
