Penn State Football has one of the best fanbases in college football.
Nittany Lions fans show the world every home Saturday in the fall when over 110,000 people are packed into Beaver Stadium for a big-time game against Ohio State or a small school like Akron.
The stadium is always rocking. Still, one media analyst can’t say they are a fan of Penn State fans and have ranked them in the Top 10 Least Passionate Fan Bases In College Football.
Tom Fornelli from CBS Sports recently released his Top 10 Least Passionate Fan Bases in College Football list on social media.
Surprisingly, Fornelli placed Nittany Lions fans in the seventh spot.
Least Passionate Fan Bases In College Football
1. Ohio State
2. Florida State
3. Texas A&M
4. Tennessee
5. Notre Dame
6. Texas
7. Penn State
8. Florida
9. Alabama
10. LSU pic.twitter.com/ilOE8CuZGJ— Tom Fornelli (@TomFornelli) July 3, 2024
However, this ranking seems wrong because Penn State fans are one of the best in college football.

In Defense of Penn State Football Fans
I’m sorry to say this, but it must be a joke. The only list Penn State fans should be on is the Top 10 Most Passionate Fan Bases In College Football.
Penn State Football has been great for a while, but they have yet to reach the top. In ten years, they have never made a four-team college football playoff, and they watched Ohio State and then Michigan dominate the Big Ten in that span.
The Nittany Lions were always hanging with the two programs but couldn’t put themselves ahead of them, and the fans didn’t hold it against them.
It could be frustrating at times to see a team like Penn State, with so much talent, not be able to reach the promised land. Many fan bases around the sport would start to turn away from their team until they returned to being part of the title conversation again, but the Nittany Lions fans never ran away from their team.
Penn State fans are amazing. Have you ever seen a whiteout under the lights at Beaver Stadium? It’s the best scene in the sport.
Hopefully, the Nittany Lions will have a great season this year, and their passionate fans will be loud and cheer on their team every week.
