National College Football Analyst Has BOLD Prediction for Penn State Football in 2023

The season is inching closer every second for Penn State Football, and as Week 1 nears, expectations continue to rise for the Nittany Lions.

Josh Pate, the host of Late Kick with Josh Pate, dropped his season predictions on Sunday night, and let’s just say it was positive for Penn State.

Pate has the Nittany Lions making the College Football Playoff as the No. 4 seed with an 11-1 record.  Facing Penn State in the semi final is fellow Big Ten East team Ohio State, who Pate has at 13-0 and the Big Ten champion. Pate has Ohio State beating the Nittany Lions then losing to Alabama in the title game.

As for how Penn State makes its first Playoff appearance, Pate had Penn State beating Michigan in November after having the Nittany Lions lose to Ohio State in the Horseshoe in October. He then has Ohio State beating Michigan to end the regular season, making Penn State’s lone loss a road loss to a 12-0 Ohio State team.

The Nittany Lions have never made the College Football Playoff.

The closest James Franklin’s program ever got was 2016 when Penn State won the Big Ten with an 11-2 record. Despite beating Ohio State during the season and winning the conference, the Buckeyes were given the nod in the Playoff over Penn State.

The hype has never been greater for Penn State under James Franklin, and for good reason. This is the deepest and most well-rounded team Franklin has had in Happy Valley.
