College Football Analysts Have Strong Take on Penn State’s Expectations
There is nothing like preseason expectations, and for Penn State, they have been getting hit by them all offseason.
The Nittany Lions return one of the best quarterbacks in the country in Drew Allar and have the best running back duo in all of college football in Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen.
The preseason coaches’ poll was published Monday and had the Nittany Lions ranked third behind Texas and Ohio State.
However, even those preseason rankings might not capture the upside Penn State Football has ahead of the 2025 season.
Top College Football Analyst Calls for Penn State to be No. 1
Both the Longhorns and Buckeyes will be rolling out new quarterback starters from last season, and ESPN College Football writer Heather Dinich thinks Penn State should be No. 1.
Dinich was on ESPN’s morning show Get Up on Tuesday and thinks Penn State should have the upper hand over Texas since they have a quarterback with a handful of experience.
Allar has appeared in 39 games over the last three years, throwing for 6,302 yards and 53 touchdowns. Texas quarterback Arch Manning has appeared in 12 games in the previous two seasons, throwing for 969 yards and nine scores.

Manning was the backup to Quinn Ewers the last two years but saw action when Ewers missed time with an injury.
Penn State also brought in one of the best defensive coordinators in Jim Knowles, who helped Ohio State win the title last season.
There is no question the Nittany Lions are ready to roll for the 2025 season, and it will be interesting to see how they do against teams like Oregon and the Buckeyes this season.
