Big Ten Week 2: Chaos as Michigan Gets Blown Out, Penn State Survives Scare

Penn State Football emerging from a rock fight against Bowling Green wasn’t the only shocking development across the Big Ten Conference last weekend.

The second week of the Big Ten season is over, and it brought some fireworks starting on Friday night when Indiana dropped 77 points, beating Western Illinois 77-3.

The second Big Ten game on Friday was Duke vs. Northwestern in the battle of who can come out with the best ACT score. The Blue Devils beat the Wildcats in double overtime, 26-20.

Saturday rolled around, and Penn State had a scare against Bowling Green. They only won 34-27 in a game they were down until the middle of the third quarter.

Rutgers continued their hot start, beating Akron 49-17, and Minnesota got their first win of the year, winning 48-0 over Rhode Island.

The game of the week rolled around with Michigan hosting Texas, and it was a day to forget for the defending champs.

Michigan’s offense couldn’t move the ball all day and scored their only touchdown in garbage time, and Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers had himself a day throwing for 246 yards and three scores.

Texas won big time, 31-12, and Michigan has another tough test in two weeks against USC.

Washington got off to a hot start, beating Eastern Michigan 30-9, and Wisconsin is a week away from its big matchup with Alabama, but it took care of South Dakota first, winning 27-13.

Iowa blew a 13-point lead to instate rival Iowa State, and the Hawkeyes lost on a game 54-yard field goal 20-19.

The first Big Ten matchup of the season came between Michigan State and Maryland, and even though Michigan State’s quarterback Aidan Chiles threw three interceptions, his team still came out with the 27-24 win.

Ohio State took down Western Michigan 56-0, and Illinois pulled the upset against number 19 Kansas 23-17.

Deion Sanders and Colorado rolled into Nebraska Saturday night, and the Cornhuskers took care of business, winning 28-10.

Oregon struggled again, only being Boise State 37-34, and USC beat Utah State 48-0, starting hot after their win against LSU last week.

Week Two of the Big Ten was fun, and now we will fast forward to Week Three, where we will see some exciting matchups.
