Former Nittany Lion Fan Turned Rival QB Looks to Crash Penn State’s Playoff Hopes

Penn State will be staring down West Virginia in their first game of the season in a matter of days, and the Nittany Lions should be able to win the contest and set themselves up for a magical season.

For Penn State to keep the fantasy year alive, they will have to do something they last did in 2016, and that would be to beat Ohio State.

The Buckeyes will roll into Happy Valley on Saturday, November 2nd, with possibly the best team Ohio State has had in a while, and Penn State Football will be facing a former fan of their program.

Ohio State QB Will Howard’s Penn State Football Connection

Will Howard
Aug 8, 2024; Columbus, Ohio, USA; Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Will Howard (18) takes a snap during football practice at the Woody Hayes Athletic Complex.

Ohio State named quarterback Will Howard their starter a few weeks ago. The 22-year-old transferred this offseason after spending four years at Kansas State.

Many Nittany Lions fans should be familiar with Howard’s name because he grew up in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, attended Downingtown West High School, and was a big-time Penn State fan.

With Howard now wearing the Scarlet and Gray, he didn’t have many kind things to say about his favorite childhood team. On Monday, Dan Hope from the Eleven Warriors tweeted a quote from Howard: “Growing up. Unfortunately, I was a Penn State fan for most of my life. I came over to the bright side.”

Howard seems to have no more love for Penn State in his heart, and when the Buckeyes come to town in about two months, the Nittany Lions defense also needs to show him no love.

The Ohio State vs. Penn State game was already a fun matchup. Still, it looks like Howard gave the Nittany Lions defense some bulletin board material. It will be interesting to see how Howard handles the fantastic atmosphere in Happy Valley.
