3 Questions Going Into Penn State’s Massive Recruiting Weekend

Penn State Football has a stacked official visit weekend lined up. This weekend, the Nittany Lions welcome 16 uncommitted prospects to campus.

Some of the biggest names on the board are visiting.

These big names, and big bodies, are largely from within the trenches. Star Edge Rushers, Jackson Ford, Luke Wafle, Ashton Blatt, Tyson Harley, and Carter Meadows are slated to be in Happy Valley.

In addition, some big-name interior Defensive Linemen are set to visit as well.

Keshawn Stancil, Damari Simeon, and Garrett Witherington will be in town. Linebacker Elijah Littlejohn and Cornerback Amauri Polydor round out the defensive visitors, with Polydor announcing his commitment Friday evening to the Lions.

There aren’t as many offensive visitors, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t as important.

Illinois native, Tight End Mack Sutter will make the trip to Penn State. Fellow pass catcher, wideout Travis Johnson is also set to be in Happy Valley. The offensive visitors list rounds out with key target, Grayson McKeogh and Offensive Linemen, JB Shabazz and Thomas Wilder.

With that stacked list of prospects, here are three burning questions for Penn State Football’s massive recruiting weekend.

1. How Will the Penn State Staff Balance the Defensive Line Targets?

Look, there is no shortage of talent on campus this weekend among the defensive line. This is especially true at the Edge position.

How will the Penn State Football coaching and recruiting staff balance all of the talent?

Obviously, Penn State cannot take all five Edge Rushers that are visiting, so how can they still wow each one? I do not envy the spot the Penn State staff is in. On one hand, it is a blessing to have this many studs on the Defensive Line visiting. But on the other hand, how do you treat each one as a priority?

How Deion Barnes and company handle the excess of talent on campus this weekend could go a long way in adding a star pass rusher.

2. Will Penn State Football Receive Another Commitment?

This is obviously the most exciting question.

Following Polydor committing, presumably as soon as he stepped onto campus Friday evening, the biggest question becomes whether James Franklin and staff will be able to secure another commitment by the end of the weekend.

The prospects that seem most likely to commit would be Ashton Blatt, Jackson Ford, or Tyson Harley.

One in particular that I have circled is Amauri Polydor. It would not shock me if he jumped on board this weekend. Penn State Football has been leading for the DMV prospect for a while now, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Polydor commit this weekend.

3. Can Penn State Improve Their Chances With LaSalle Product?

Likely one of, if not, Penn State’s highest Offensive Lineman targets, Grayson McKeogh will be at Penn State this weekend.

After speaking with McKeogh this spring, it felt like Penn State was in a good spot for him. I left the call feeling like his recruitment was Penn State’s to lose. However, after speaking to some other sources recently, Notre Dame appears to be neck and neck with the Nittany Lions.

This weekend could go a long way for Penn State with McKeogh. The 4-star, PA native will visit Notre Dame next weekend, and these back-to-back visits will be fascinating to watch. Whichever school can move the needle the most for McKeogh will likely be in the driver’s seat moving forward.
