In just a few days, Penn State Football will head to Morgantown, West Virginia, to face the Mountaineers, and the Nittany Lions defense will have their hands full.
Many are familiar with Penn State‘s quarterback, Drew Allar, and his potential to become one of the best players in college football this season, but the quarterback on the opposing sidelines has also made a name for himself.
West Virginia’s signal caller, Garrett Greene, is entering his fifth season with the Mountaineers after a solid 2023 campaign, throwing for 2,406 yards and 16 touchdowns, and rushing for 772 yards and 13 scores.
Greene aims to improve those numbers this season and could even enter the Heisman conversation.
Pro Football Focus’s Dalton Wasserman praised the 5-foot-11 quarterback, stating, “I think Garrett Greene is in for a huge season. I could see him in the Top Five of Heisman Contention.”
Penn State must take Greene seriously and work to contain him as much as possible.

The Nittany Lions had one of the best defenses in the country last year, but they lost defensive coordinator Manny Diaz to Duke. New coordinator Tom Allen will face a tough test in his first game.
Look for Nittany Lions linebacker Abdul Carter to make Greene’s day difficult. However, if West Virginia pulls off the upset, Greene’s name will quickly rise up the Heisman boards.
