Where is Penn State Ranked in the Preseason AP Poll?
With Penn State Football season just under three weeks away from kicking off, the initial AP Poll has been announced.
As Penn State’s anticipation of the season builds, so does the anticipation of the media and rankings.
Here is where Penn State is ranked in the first AP Poll of 2025:
Penn State is ranked as the No. 2 team in the nation.

This is the highest Penn State has been ranked since it began the 1997 season in the top spot of the Preseason AP Poll. Last season, the Nittany Lions were ranked in the No. 8 spot to begin the year.
Other Big Ten teams in the Preseason AP top 25 are Ohio State (3), Oregon (7), Illinois (12), Indiana (20)
