2027 Star James Pace Details Strong Penn State Football Interest, Teammate Push [EXCLUSIVE]

James Pace is a 2027 prospect that Penn State Football fans should become familiar with if they haven’t already.

Pace is an Edge Rusher out of Dematha Catholic in Maryland.

Furthermore, Pace is a highly sought after Edge talent in the class of 2027. Recently, Pace discussed his recruitment with NittanyCentral.

Penn State Sticks Out, as Well as Other Blue Bloods

Pace doesn’t have a top 3, 5, or 10 list.

His recruitment is still plenty early.

However, Pace did highlight three programs that stand out to him right now.

“Alabama, Penn State, and Oregon if I had to pick right now.” Pace said. “They’re showing the most love as of now, and I have strong relationships with the staff from all 3 schools.”

Why is Penn State in that group for Pace? “I like the coaches and just the environment, they show a lot of love.” The blue chip DMV native said.

“Coach Barnes is a great coach,” Pace added. “He is someone that I know if I did end up at Penn State, he would be a guy I would have a strong relationship with outside of football just because we relate so much.”

Pace continued on to describe what he is looking for in his recruitment.

“The most important thing I care about with recruiting is just keeping a relationship with coaches.” Pace said. “It just lets me know they’re still interested in me.”

Penn State Commits try to Recruit Pace, Amidst Upcoming Season

What is interesting about James Pace and his recruitment is that he is teammates with 2026 Penn State Football commits Lavar Keys and Darrell Carey at Dematha.

So, naturally, I asked if Pace and his teammates talk about that.

“Yeah those are my guys.” Pace said about Keys and Carey. “They talk to me almost every day about committing there, and when I think about it, it would definitely be fun to also go to college with my guys and continue to play on the same team. It would be new for us, but we would guide each other.”

Pace, Keys, and Carey are coming off of a successful season at Dematha. One in which they took home the WCAC crown. This year, Pace is eyeing similar success. “My goal for next year is to get an invite to the UA All American game, and I need over 8 sacks.” Pace noted. “As a whole though I need us to be back to back WCAC Champions.”
