Critical Visit Weekend for Penn State Football Recruiting: Top Targets, Commits Converge in Happy Valley

Penn State Football

Penn State Football has another massive recruiting weekend on tap with the second round of official visits set to begin on Friday.

This weekend will be the largest visitor list of the June official visit period for the Nittany Lions, with the last majority of commits expected to take their official visit. In all, 13 Penn State commits will be on campus.

Those commits will have plenty of opportunities to peer recruit this weekend, with a loaded list of uncommitted recruits also making their way to Happy Valley.

It’s a perfect storm for the staff to have the commits there with multiple top targets.

Here are five of the biggest targets taking an official visit to Penn State Football this weekend

5) Mylachi Williams, 4-Star, DE

Penn State Football still does not have a defensive end commit in the 2024 class, but one of the top targets at the position will be on campus this weekend.

Mylachi Williams, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound 4-star from Drexel Hill, Pa is a prospect to get excited about. He also holds offers from the likes of Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame and USC.

He is slated to visit Notre Dame the following weekend, the staff will try to make sure that visit doesn’t happen.

4) Vaboue Toure, 4-Star, S

Penn State Football landed its first safety commit of the class last weekend in Dejuan Lane and now the Nittany Lions will try to make it 2/2 with safeties who officially visit.

Vaboue Toure, a 4-star from New Jersey will take hos official visit this weekend. With Lane already on board, the staff can put some heat on Toure to commit with space limited.

3) Nigel Smith II, 4-Star, DT

The Nittany Lions hosted three defensive tackles last week, and one ended up committing on the spot.

This week, only one defensive tackle will be on campus, but he’s a big-time target in top-75 recruit Nigel Smith from Texas.

Beating out Southern schools for him will not be easy, but this will be the staff’s chance to pull off an upset.

2) Nick Marsh, 4-star, WR

Penn State Football does not have a wide receiver commit yet, but the team’s top target at the position will take his official this weekend.

Former Michigan State commit Nick Marsh is listed at 6-foot-3 and is the No. 99 player in the nation for the 2024 cycle. From Michigan, the Nittany Lions still need to hold off the hometown Spartans but this weekend could go a long way in doing just that.

1) Jamonta Waller, 4-star, LB/DE

Arguably Penn State Football’s top remaining target, Jamonta Waller will be in Happy Valley this weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder profiles both at outside linebacker and defensive end, giving the Nittany Lions some flexibility with.

The entire SEC is after Mississippi native, so this recruitment is about as hard as it gets. This weekend is James Franklin’s time to shine with Waller.
