How Penn State Football Can Land 2027 Five-Star Cornerback

Once again, Penn State Football is drawing another week closer to the football season.

As that time rapidly approaches, I will begin to wrap up the position-by-position look into the class of 2027. Today will be focused on the Cornerback spot in 2027.

Terry Smith Casts Wide Net

As per usual with Penn State and Coach Terry Smith, there have been a bunch of 2027 Cornerback offers.

This is typical as Coach Smith tends to send out a high volume of offers at his position. This gives him flexibility, options, depth, and more.

The class of 2027 is no different as there are about 15-plus offers out. So, for time and simplicity sake, the players mentioned below are all prospects who have reciprocated interest in the Nittany Lions by taking a visit.

To me, the most logical player to look at first is Virginia product, Khalid Rainer.

Admittedly, it is really hard to tell how the 2027 Cornerback board looks. So, it is hard to tell where Rainer stands on that. However, he has visited State College twice.

Rainer also has offers Michigan, Duke, Michigan State, and others. From a location perspective, Rainer fits the mold of a likely Penn State recruit.

Another likely name is Larry Moon.

Moon is originally from the Pittsburgh area, but he now attends IMG Academy down in Florida. At the moment, Moon appears to have 2 primary front runners in his recruitment. They are Ohio State and Penn State. Both schools Moon has been to several times and they stand out as the clear top two at this moment.

Could Penn State Really Land a 5-Star Texas Corner?

The headliner of the group at Cornerback in this class of 2027 is Texas native, John Meredith.

Meredith is rated as the number 5 player in the country according to ON3 Industry Rankings. Let’s be real, this would be an extremely unlikely and impressive haul. Meredith has offers from Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and others. Meredith made it up to Happy Valley in the spring and as of now Penn State is in the mix. A lot of things will have to go right for the Nittany Lions to land Meredith, but they are doing all they can to land him.

Ashton “Ace” Alston is another blue-chipper Penn State has circled. Alston resides in Ohio and has plenty of elite suitors. Similar to Meredith, Alsotn would be an impressive pull. Currently, Tennessee, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Penn State are in the mix for Alston.

So, out of all of the 2027 offers Penn State has sent out, I only highlighted 4 players? Yes. My reason in doing that is that I believe these are 4 prospects who Penn State will for sure be involved with. Likely, more names will emerge and things will shift around a lot. The class of 2027 is still very young.
