Sean Clifford Struggles, Parker Washington Thrives | Penn State in the NFL Preseason Week 2
Week 2 of the NFL preseason saw several former Penn State standouts get extended playing time, for better or worse.
Here’s a recap of how former Nittany Lions performed in Week 2 of the NFL’s exhibition slate:
Sean Clifford, Green Bay Packers
Sean Clifford completed six of ten passes for 43 yards and rushed for 11 yards in Green Bay’s 27-2 loss to the Denver Broncos Sunday.
Clifford also threw an interception and fumbled a snap (that he recovered) in the loss. Clifford is battling with rookie Michael Pratt for Green Bay’s QB2 job this preseason.
Ji’Ayir Brown, San Fransisco 49ers
Ji’Ayir Brown made the most of limited playing time in San Fransisco’s 16-10 win over the New Orleans Saints, flying down and making a splash tackle for a loss early in the first quarter.

Kevin Givens, San Fransisco 49ers
Defensive tackle Kevin Givens made one tackle in San Fransisco’s 16-10 win over the Saints.
Yetur Gross-Matos, San Fransisco 49ers
Yetur Gross-Matos recorded one tackle in San Fransisco’s 16-10 win over the Saints.
Kalen King, Green Bay Packers
Kalen King recorded one solo tackle in Green Bay’s 27-2 loss to the Denver Broncos Sunday.
Brandon Smith, Philadelphia Eagles
Former Penn State linebacker Brandon Smith made a splash for the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday, recovering a fumbled snap with less than two minutes to go to seal the Eagles 14-13 win over the New England Patriots. Smith also recorded two tackles in the game.

PJ Mustipher, Philadelphia Eagles
PJ Mustipher recorded three tackles and a tackle for a loss in the Eagles 14-13 win over the New England Patriots Thursday.
Adisa Isaac, Baltimore Ravens
Recording his first stats as a professional, defensive end Adisa Isaac recorded four tackles including two solo tackles in Baltimore’s 13-12 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Jordan Stout, Baltimore Ravens
Stout punted six times for 241 yards (40.2 average), landing three punts inside the 20 in Baltimore’s win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Noah Cain, Cincinnati Bengals
The former Nittany Lion turned LSU Tiger running back, Noah Cain, saw his first action as a professional, rushing eight times for 28 yards and catching two passes for 10 yards in Cincinnati’s 27-3 loss to the Chicago Bears.
Allen Robinson, New York Giants
Allen Robinson caught one pass for 10 yards in the Giant’s 28-10 loss to the Houston Texans.
Theo Johnson, New York Giants
Rookie tight end Theo Johnson caught his first career pass for four yards in the Giants 28-10 loss to the Texans.
Jonathan Sutherland, New York Giants
Four-time Penn State captain Jonathan Sutherland recorded two tackles, including one solo tackle, in the Giants 28-10 loss to the Texans.
Curtis Jacobs, Kansas City Chiefs
Curtis Jacobs recorded four tackles (2 solo) and a tackle for a loss in the Chiefs 24-23 loss to the Detroit Lions Saturday.
KJ Hamler, Buffalo Bills
KJ Hamler caught one pass for nine yards in Buffalo’s 9-3 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday.
Daequan Hardy, Buffalo Bills
Daequan Hardy made his debut at punt returner Saturday for Buffalo, a position fellow Nittany Lion KJ Hamler held in week one. Hardy returned five punts for 63 yards (12.6 average) with a long return of 31 yards. Hardy also recorded three solo tackles and defended two passes in Buffalo’s 9-3 win over the Steelers.
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pat Freiermuth caught one pass for 10 yards in Pittsburgh’s 9-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills Saturday.
Joey Porter Jr, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers legacy Joey Porter Jr recorded two tackles (one solo) in Pittsburgh’s 9-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Trace McSorley, Washington Commanders
Penn State legend Trace McSorley got his shot with a fourth NFL team in his six year NFL career Saturday with the Washington Commanders. McSorley went 11 for 21 for 93 yards and an interception in Washington’s 13-6 loss to the Miami Dolphins. McSorley also lost a fumble in the game.
Mitchell Tinsley, Washington Commanders
Wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley caught two passes for eight yards in the Washington Commander’s 13-6 loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Jahan Dotson, Washington Commanders
Jahan Dotson caught his first pass of the preseason, a three yard pass, in Washington’s 13-6 loss to the Dolphins.
Tariq Castro-Fields, Washington Commanders
Cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields recorded one solo tackle and one pass defended in Washington’s 13-6 loss to the Dolphins.
Chop Robinson, Miami Dophins
Chop Robinson showed off the elite speed that he possesses to get into the backfield with an incredible tackle for a loss on a read option play Saturday. Robinson recorded two tackles in the Dolphins 13-6 win over the Commanders.

Jesse Luketa, Arizona Cardinals
Jesse Luketa recorded four tackles (two solo) in Arizona’s 21-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Blake Gillikin, Arizona Cardinals
Blake Gillikin punted six times for 310 yards (51.7 average), including four punts inside the 20 and a long of 64 yards.
Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars
Parker Washington continues to impress for Jacksonville this preseason. After an electrifying kick return in week one, Washington caught three passes for 38 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown on a third and 17.

Armani Oruwariye, Jacksonville Jaguars
Former Nittany Lions standout cornerback Armani Oruwariye recorded one tackle in Jacksonville’s 20-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
