Penn State State Wrestling: Beu Bartlett Takes Home B1G Wrestler of Week Honors

Penn State Wrestling will need to purchase a massive mantle if they want to display all of the hardware from its wrestlers this season.

This past weekend 141 pounder, Beau Bartlett, blasted No. 2 Real Woods in the Nittany Lions‘ away dual meet against Iowa and he kept my blood pressure sky-high when he just got past Max Hermes for a last second win in the BJC dual against Rutgers.

And in large part to his win against Woods, Bartlett has been named the B1G Wrestler of the Week.

This is now Beau’s second honor from this season as he was previously the B1G Wrestler of the Week following his performance in the Black Knight Invite in November.

Bartlett is now a perfect 16-0 on the season with wins against 10 ranked wrestlers at 141 pounds. And one of those ranked wins was against his teammate, Tyler Kasak, when they squared off in the finals at the aforementioned Black Knight.

Obviously the big question is whether or not Beau can keep up the pace as the season inches closer to the Big Ten Championships and the NCAA Championships. But I am not one to bet against someone as talented as Bartlett, nor would I ever question the world-class coaching staff Cael Sanderson has in place in Happy Valley.

The one thing I do know is that Beau Bartlett looks like he’s the most improved Nittany Lion wrestler from last year. And he’s already been able to navigate the difficult and star-studded 141 weight class thus far.

So if I was a betting man, then I would be the farm on Beau to keep the train rolling when the calendar flips to March.
