Penn State Wrestling's Mitchell Mesenbrink defeats Owen Eck 19-4 in Penn State's dual meet against Oklahoma, November 14, 2025 Credit - Lloyd McCully
Penn State Wrestling was back in action this Sunday as they took part in the 2025 Black Knight Invite.
And in this case, “compete” was just another word for “wipe the floor with pretty much everyone”. Because in the end the Nittany Lions went a combined 60-14 and won titles at nine of the 10 weight classes. Penn State Wrestling also racked up 19 place finishers on the day.
Additionally, Penn State grapplers piled up 12 major decisions, 21 technical falls, and 16 pins throughout the whole tournament.

A total of 20 Penn State wrestlers took to the mat in Sunday’s action. And the results pretty much spoke for themselves. The Nittany Lions were simply overwhelming and most of the guys weren’t even really tested.
That is unless their opponent was also a member of the Penn State Wrestling Team. In all there were a total of six matches pitting a Nittany Lion vs. a Nittany Lion. Heck, five of the finals matches were Lion on Lion action. However, unlike in last year’s Black Knight Invite, the coaching staff let these matches play out.
And let’s just say that they did not disappoint one bit!
So without further ado …
