Over his two seasons in Happy Valley, Collins served as the special teams coordinator and outside linebacker and nickels coach for Penn State, leading an exceptional special teams unit for the Nittany Lions.
Under his tutelage, kick returner Nick Singleton earned second team All-Big Ten honors as a kick return specialist in 2022 and Daequan Hardy earned honors as the Big Ten’s punt returner of the year in 2023.
In 2023, Alex Felkins also earned second team All-Big Ten honors as a placekicker and Riley Thompson, Gabe Nwosu, and Nick Singleton all earned an honorable mention on the All-Big Ten specialist team.
Collins will return to Boise State where he coached in 2021 before joining the Nittany Lions.
Head coach James Franklin and Penn State Football will now kick off its third coordinator search of the season after hiring Tom Allen to replace Manny Diaz as defensive coordinator and Andy Kotelnicki to replace Mike Yurcich as offensive coordinator.
