Penn State in the NFL Preseason Week 3: Trace McSorley Makes His Case

The final week of the preseason wrapped up, with plenty of Nittany Lions getting their final shots at making NFL rosters or making their cases for playing time this season. Here is how all of the former Nittany Lions fared in week three, including a strong showing from Trace McSorley:

Trace McSorley got another shot at his NFL career, this time with the Washington Commanders.

McSorley completed 12 of his 21 pass attempts for 125 yards and a touchdown. McSorley also led the Commanders in rushing with four attempts for 40 yards in Washington’s 20-10 win over the New England Patriots.

Mitchell Tinsley, Washington Commanders

Mitchell Tinsley caught four passes for 37 yards in Washington’s 20-10 win over the Patriots.

Tariq Castro-Fields, Washington Commanders

Tariq Castro-Fields recorded two solo tackles in Washington’s 20-10 win over the Patriots.


Curtis Jacobs, Kansas City Chiefs

One week after having the highest grade of any defender in week two of the preseason, Curtis Jacobs recorded two tackles (one solo) in Kansas City’s 34-21 loss to the Bears.

Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars

Parker Washington caught four passes for 35 yards in Jacksonville’s 31-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars

Brenton Strange caught two passes for 19 yards in Jacksonville’s 31-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Strange also recorded a tackle in the win.

Adrian Amos, Jacksonville Jaguars

Adrian Amos recorded two tackles (one solo) in Jacksonville’s 31-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Amani Oruwariye, Jacksonville Jaguars

Amani Oruwariye recorded one tackle for a loss in Jacksonville’s 31-0 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Adam Schefter announced Tuesday that the Jaguars are releasing Oruwariye.

KJ Hamler displayed his versatility for Buffalo this week, rushing three times for 21 yards and a touchdown and catching three passes for 11 yards.

Daequan Hardy, Buffalo Bills

Daequan Hardy recorded two solo tackles, a tackle for a loss, and a defended pass in Buffalo’s 31-26 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Hardy also returned one kick for 24 yards.

Jordan Stout, Baltimore Ravens

Jordan Stout punted four times for 247 yards (an astounding 61.8 yard average) in Baltimore’s 30-7 loss to the Packers.

Sean Clifford, Green Bay Packers

Sean Clifford completed six of his 14 pass attempts for 53 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay’s 30-7 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Clifford rushed one time for three yards as well. Unfortunately for Clifford, Green Bay traded for Titans’ quarterback Malik Willis on Monday, putting Clifford’s future with the Packers in doubt.

Kalen King, Green Bay Packers

Kalen King had the best game of his short career so far this weekend, recording five tackles (three solo).

Brandon Smith, Philadelphia Eagles

Brandon Smith recorded four tackles (two solo) and a tackle for a loss in Philadelphia’s 26-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

PJ Mustipher, Philadelphia Eagles

PJ Mustipher recorded one tackle in Philadelphia’s 26-3 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.


Allen Robinson, New York Giants

Allen Robinson rushed once for 10 yards and caught one pass for four yards in the Giants’ 10-6 loss to the New York Jets.

Keaton Ellis, Tennessee Titans

Keaton Ellis recorded two tackles in Tennessee’s 30-27 win over the New Orleans Saints.

Jesse Luketa, Arizona Cardinals

Jesse Luketa recorded three tackles (two solo), one sack, one tackle for a loss, and two quarterback hits in Arizona’s 38-12 loss to the Denver Broncos.

Blake Gillikin, Arizona Cardinals

Blake Gillikin punted four times for 232 yards (58 yard average) in Arizona’s 38-12 loss to the Denver Broncos.
