Saquon Barkley Explodes for First Career NFL Playoffs Touchdown

Saquon Barkley

On the biggest stage of his career, to date, Saquon Barkley showed the world that he is in fact all the way back.

Making his NFL postseason debut, Barkley got the New York Giants on the board with a 28-yard touchdown run with 5:19 remaining in the first quarter.

Barkley took the handoff from Giants quarterback Daniel Jones, showing great patience for his blockers off tackle before exploding through the heart of the Vikings’ defense for the score, to tie the game at 7.

The combination of patience, vision, and explosiveness through the second-level of the defense is what makes Barkley one of the premier running backs in the NFL.

According to NFL NextGenStats, the Giants entered Sunday afternoon’s contest averaging 1.7 Yards  before contact, second best in the league.

Saquon Barkley ran into the end zone untouched for a 28-yard touchdown.

Barkley finished the 2022 campaign, rushing for a career-high 1,312 yards with 10 touchdowns, while averaging 4.4 Yards Per Carry.

Entering Sunday, Barkley aimed to leave his mark on the postseason, and the Giants’ chances at making an improbable Super Bowl run.

“I want the ball as many times as needed to win this game,” Barkley said, via NJ Advance Media. “Obviously, I carried the ball a little bit more in earlier in the year, second half of the season not so much, but the job was to get into the playoffs, and we found a way to do that.

“If it’s 40, 50 (carries) then it’s 40, 50. If it’s zero, five then it’s zero, five.”
