The Penn State Football annual White Out has become one of the biggest yearly events in sports. ESPN College Football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has called it the best atmosphere in college football.
But, weather threatens to ruin the atmosphere and effect of the yearly spectacle, so much so that the Penn State football program has put out early warnings for people to buy white raingear.

While weather reports differ a few days out, rain looks to be looming for Saturday night’s matchup between Penn State and Iowa.
The main spectacle surrounding the White Out is the contrast between 110,000 fans all dressed in white on the dark background of the State College night sky.
This is the reason why Penn State has chosen the past two White Out matchups between Minnesota and Iowa rather than going with higher ranked matchups versus Ohio State or Michigan.

If, as it looks extremely likely, rain does hit State College Saturday night, Penn State fans must find white or clear ponchos or raincoats to not spoil the effect of one of the greatest spectacles and traditions in college football.

As of Friday morning, the Weather Channel calls for rain during the day on Saturday with a steady 10 to 15 mile per hour wind, with rainfall potentially reaching one inch, during the day.
By kickoff, the forecast calls for a low of 54 degrees with an 80 percent change of accumulating rainfall, potentially adding another half inch to the day’s total.
Fans should certainly heed the program’s call to track down white rain gear, if heading to Beaver Stadium.
