Penn State starting quarterback Drew Allar was once a five-star prospect and the number one quarterback in the 2022 class according to 247 Sports.
247 Sports National Scouting Analyst, Gabe Brooks, went so far as to say Allar was the “most naturally talented thrower in the 2022 quarterback class…with NFL Draft first-round potential.”
But now, after only five career starts, is Allar already a top 10 quarterback in college football?
In Andrew Graham of On3 Sports latest ranking “Top 25 QB rankings entering Week 6 of college football”, Graham listed Drew Allar as the number nine quarterback in all of college football entering week six of the 2023 season.
In the ranking, Graham mentions that “Allar looked like a first-year starter at times” against Northwestern, but “has played much better at home.”
Graham further noted that Allar’s completion percentage is over 20 percent higher at home than on the road and Allar has accounted for nine touchdowns at home versus two on the road.

Is Drew Allar Best of The Big Ten?
On the top 25 list, Allar is the highest rated quarterback in the Big Ten, one spot ahead of Michigan’s JJ McCarthy.
Meanwhile, Maryland’s Taulia Tagovailoa is the only other Big Ten quarterback ranked at number 17 overall.
So, is Allar a top 10 quarterback in college football at the moment?
Allar’s ceiling is exceptionally high, but his struggles on the road this season leading to a 51.5 percent completion percentage and an average of one touchdown per game on the road make it hard to justify this ranking yet.
Allar will face a massive test in his next road appearance in Columbus on October 21, which could vault him even higher on these rankings and have him flying up 2025 draft boards.
The future is very bright for the young quarterback in Happy Valley.
