Former Penn State Football star, and Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is one of the most talented players in the entire NFL, and one league insider suggests Parsons is in line to collect some major hardware.
Through the first five weeks of the season, Parsons has already produced six sacks — following a two-sack and one forced fumble effort Sunday against the reigning Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, along with 19 total tackles and a forced fumble.
Heavy Sports Senior NFL Insider Matt Lombardo suggests Parsons is could ‘run away’ with the NFL Defensive Player of The Year Award:
“Parsons is now on pace for 20.5 sacks, with the skill set to mount a real challenge to T.J. Watt’s single-season record of 22.5, set in 2021.
Moreover, Parsons is a matchup nightmare for opposing offensive lines, having already produced 22 total pressures entering Sunday’s game.
There is no shortage of elite defenders in today’s NFL, but Parsons ranks high on the list and may be the best pass rusher in the game today. Parsons’ consistency could put him in a position to run away with the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award.”

Parsons, of course, was the unanimous selection as NFL Defensive Rookie of The Year in 2021, and is off to a torrid start as the Cowboys’ most dominant defender.
Ahead of Dallas’ Sunday Night Football showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles, Parsons has logged a 90.5 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, listed as the outlet’s No. 3 rated EDGE in the league.
Prior to being chosen No. 11 overall by the Cowboys in 2021, Parsons produced 191 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 18 tackles for loss across two seasons for the Nittany Lions.
