Penn State Football destroyed Iowa 31-0 on Saturday night and the White Out atmosphere seems to have made an impact on recruits, like it usually does.
The first commit to come out of the successful weekend was 2025 4-star linebacker DJ McClary, who made the call to coach James Franklin on Sunday afternoon.

What D.J. McClary Adds to 2024 Penn State Football Class
Listed at 6-foot-1 and 211 pounds, McClary is rated as the No. 100 player and No. 12 linebacker in the 247 Sports Composite in the 2025 cycle.
Obviously, these rankings will fluctuate frequently over the next year.
From Jersey City, NJ, McClary is the second member of Penn State’s 2025 class from the Garden State, joining 3-star safety Omari Gaines.
The Nittany Lions did have a commitment from the No. 1 player in New Jersey in offensive lineman Jaelyne Matthews, but he decommitted earlier this month.
The Nittany Lions have done a fantastic job of recruiting linebackers under defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Manny Diaz.
Penn State brought in three 4-star linebackers in the 2022 class and backed that up with landing 4-star Anthony Speca and 3-star Kari Jackson. McClary now looks like the headliner for the 2025 class.
With just three commits, Penn State Football has the No. 9 class in the very early 2025 class rankings. More big commitments could be on their way though as we continue to see feedback from Saturday’s electric game.
