Penn State Football swept its home-and-home series over the past two seasons with the Auburn Tigers, and Sean Clifford didn’t miss an opportunity to remind the SEC blueblood.
Ahead of the 2023 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, the Auburn Football Twitter account tweeted the video of linebacker Owen Pappoe’s thunderous hit on Clifford from the Nittany Lions‘ game in Auburn this past season … A game Penn State Football ran away with 41-12.
Despite fumbling on the play, Clifford didn’t fumble the opportunity to remind Auburn that they were winless against the Nittany Lions the past two seasons:
Nice hit. Now post the final score…2-0 https://t.co/13qpm9oTMS

Clifford completed 14-of-19 passing attempts for 178 yards in the 2022 game in SEC country. That game against Auburn came nearly a year removed from one of the finest performances of his collegiate career, a 28-of-32 effort for 280 yards with 2 touchdowns to 1 interception in a 28-20 Penn State Football win over Auburn inside Beaver Stadium in 2021.
The series with Auburn is the last regular season game that Penn State Football will play against an SEC foe until at least 2028.
Clifford and the Nittany Lions’ sweep of Auburn created massive exposure for the program in fertile recruiting ground, and the veteran quarterback didn’t miss an opportunity to issue a reminder.
