Penn State Football Finally Lands Top Recruiting Target

Penn State Football added to its 2024 recruiting class on Monday night with the addition of 4-star edge Jaylen Harvey.

This commitment is a long time coming for Harvey as he was looked at as a Penn State lean for the better part of a year now.

The Maryland native attends Quince Orchard High School, which so happens to be the high school of current Penn State edge rusher Chop Robinson. That relationship certainly played a key role in this recruitment as Maryland, Robinson’s former school, was also a finalist for Harvey.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, Harvey is the No. 30 edge player in the 247 Sports Composite rankings. Along with Penn State and Maryland, his other offers included USC, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Washington.

He was a frequent visitor to Penn State Football and there was a belief that his recruitment could’ve been shut down as early as Penn State’s 2022 game against Ohio State, but that never happened.

Now, almost exactly a year later, Harvey is finally a Nittany Lion.

What Harvey Commitment Means for Penn State Football

With Harvey in the fold, Penn State now has a commitment from 25 recruits in the 2024 cycle.

Of those 25, 17 of them are rated as a 4-star or better in the 2024 player rankings. While a recruiting class normally maxes out at 25, the belief is that Penn State still has some unfinished business is this cycle still.

The Nittany Lions are currently ranked No. 11 in the national team rankings as they try for another top ten recruiting class.
