Former Penn State Football Tight End Signs 1-Year Deal with AFC North Contender

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Tuesday that former Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and Penn State Football tight end Mike Gesicki is signing a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.

According to Schefter, Gesicki’s deal is worth up to $3.25 million.

What Former Penn State Football Star Mike Gesicki Brings Bengals

 

Gesicki spent the last year with the New England Patriots on a one-year, $4.5 million deal after spending five seasons in Miami. In New England, Gesicki caught 29 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns in 2023.

Gesicki spent four years in Miami on a rookie deal before being franchised tagged in 2022, earning $10,931,000 for the 2022 NFL season. In his five seasons in Miami, Gesicki caught 231 passes for 2,617 yards and 18 touchdowns. His 20 career touchdowns rank him 15th among active tight ends ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

With his new deal in Cincinnati, Gesicki’s career earnings will be over $25 million. Gesicki was a second-round pick out of Penn State in the 2018 NFL draft by the Dolphins, 42nd overall. When he left Penn State, Gesicki held the record for touchdown catches by a tight end in Penn State history (15) and accumulated 1,481 yards in four seasons in Happy Valley. Gesicki will join fellow Nittany Lion teammate Nick Scott on the Bengals in 2024.
