Peach Bowl: Who Has Opted Out for Penn State Football?

Penn State Football should be pretty close to full-strength for the Peach Bowl.

The Nittany Lions have been fortunate in recent years in keeping its team mostly intact from opt outs during bowl season, however with NIL, the transfer portal, and NFL draft decisions, the landscape of college football and the decisions that players must make has become increasingly complicated.

Here is a list of who has opted in or opted out of the Peach Bowl so far for Penn State Football:

Opt Out:

DE Chop Robinson

On December 5, defensive end Chop Robinson opted out of the bowl game and declared for the 2024 NFL draft.

The junior defensive standout finished the season with four sacks and 7.5 tackles for a loss. Robinson is projected to be a first round pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Opt In:

TE Tyler Warren

While Penn State tight end Tyler Warren is undecided about returning to Penn State in 2024 or entering the 2024 NFL draft, Warren declared Friday that he will play in the Peach Bowl.

The junior tight end led Penn State with seven touchdown catches this season and added 29 catches for 295 yards.

TE Theo Johnson

Like Tyler Warren, tight end Theo Johnson announced he will play in the Peach Bowl, however the junior tight end also announced that he will enter the 2024 NFL draft following the Peach Bowl. In 2023, Johnson recorded his best year for Penn State, catching 32 passes for 325 yards and six touchdowns.

LB Curtis Jacobs

Linebacker Curtis Jacobs was an exciting return for Penn State for the 2023 season. In his fourth year on campus, Jacobs tallied 2.5 sacks, eight tackles for a loss, two fumble recoveries, and 47 tackles. Jacobs is undecided on the 2024 NFL draft and could use his COVID year to return for a fifth season in Happy Valley if he chooses.

In talking about the Peach Bowl, Jacobs stated “I don’t think there was ever a plan not to play in it.”

DE Adisa Isaac

With his Achillies injury far in the rear-view mirror, defensive end Adisa Isaac put up a monster senior season in Happy Valley, tallying 7.5 sacks, 15 tackles for a loss, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble.

Isaac also still has a COVID year and is undecided on returning or declaring for the draft but will play in the Peach Bowl.

OT Olu Fashanu

Consensus All-American offensive tackle Olu Fashanu has opted in to Peach Bowl practice and traveling to Atlanta with the team for the Peach Bowl.

It is unclear if Fashanu will see action during the game and the outstanding left tackle has yet to decide on the 2024 NFL draft.
