It’s late August, early national signing day isn’t for another 109 days and Penn State Football has 19 commits in the 2023 recruiting class.
Honestly, there really isn’t a whole lot left on the board at the moment. The Nittany Lions‘ 2023 recruiting class is just about done, but there was a few names to know that are still out there.
As the 2022 regular season approaches, head coach James Franklin and the Penn State Football staff will have one eye on the trail this fall, as well.
Top Penn State Football recruiting targets to know:
4-star LB Kaveion Keys
The Virginia native will announce a college decision on August 29, at 9 AM.
Many insiders across the industry believe this battle is going to come down the Penn State Football and North Carolina. The Tar Heels lead on the 247Sports Crystal Ball, but don’t be surprised if the Nittany Lions pull off a surprise tomorrow.
They have so much to sell to a linebacker recruit and I believe the coaching staff is giving Keys a lot to think about as we approach crunch time.

4-star CB Rodrick Pleasant
The top-100 recruit recently released his top 6 schools consisting of Penn State Football, USC, Oregon, Boston College, Cal, and UCLA.
Pleasant is perhaps the fastest high school recruit in the entire country. He clocked an otherworldly 100m dash time of 10.14 this spring.
There doesn’t seem to be a true leader in this recruitment at the moment, so that bodes well for Penn State as they look to get him on campus for a game this fall.
3-star WR Edwin Joseph
Penn State Football is searching for another receiver in the this class, and Edwin Joseph is near the top of their wishlist.
If Joseph makes a trip up from Florida to visit State College for a game this fall, I think he’ll be someone to really watch closely.
A commitment timeline is unclear; Utah and Georgia Tech are among suitors vying for his pledge.
3-star CB Zion Tracy
Tracy turned a lot of heads at Penn State Football during a camp showing in late July. He had some eye-popping athletic numbers including a 40-yard dash clocked at 4.35 seconds.
Tracy will be in Happy Valley for an official during Penn State’s home opener against Ohio.
The Nittany Lions lead on the 247Sports crystal ball and all signs point towards Penn State getting good news within the next few weeks.
