On Monday morning, Penn State Football received a surprise as four-star Wisconsin offensive tackle Garrett Sexton announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions.
Sexton had originally set his announcement date for May 1, so Monday morning’s commitment came as a bit of a surprise, especially after the home state Badgers just offered him last Friday.
The 6-foot-7, 245-pound prospect picked Penn State over Iowa, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
What Garrett Sexton Brings Penn State Football
The Hartland, Wisconsin, native plays his high school football at Arrowhead. According to the On300 rankings, Sexton is the second-best player in Wisconsin and the No. 13-ranked offensive tackle in the 2024 class.
“I would like to thank God, my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and everyone else who has put me in the position I’m in today and for helping me throughout this process,” Sexton said. “I’d also like to thank Coach Franklin and Coach Trautwein, along with the rest of the staff for giving me this opportunity. With that being said, I’m very excited to announce my commitment to Penn State to continue my academic and football career!”
Sexton joins Cooper Cousins, Caleb Brewer, and Donovan Harbour as projected offensive lineman in this class for Penn State.
Penn State Football offensive line coach Phil Trautwein is on an absolute heater on the recruiting trail right now, and he’s dramatically transforming the future outlook along the offensive front.
James Franklin’s program is putting together another stellar recruiting class, as they are currently ranked inside the top 10 on all major recruiting services with eleven total pledges.
Following Sexton’s commitment, the Nittany Lions currently sit No. 7 nationally in the class of 2024, according to 247 Sports, as the third-ranked Big Ten program.
