Penn State Football enters the 2023 college football season with arguably the loftiest expectations of the James Franklin era.
Before the Nittany Lions can make a push for the program’s first College Football Playoff berth, or a second Big Ten Conference championship since Franklin’s arrival in Happy Valley, the hard work of spring practice lies just ahead.
Spring practice begins for Penn State on March 14, the first of 15 full-squad practices before capping the spring with the annual Blue-White Game inside Beaver Stadium on Saturday, April 15, when fans will get a first real glimpse at the 2023 squad.

2023 Could Be Special Season for Penn State Football
When Penn State Football opens up as massive favorites against West Virginia in Week 1, the Lions will be led for the first time by former five-star and top-rated quarterback Drew Allar.
Allar‘s heralded ascension to the starting job, leading arguably the most talented backfield in program history, has generated significant buzz that Penn State Football can make a legitimate push for a National Championship over the next two seasons.
The big-bodied quarterback benefits from playing behind the most dominant offensive line Franklin has assembled, which is anchored by tackle Olu Fashanu, who returns as one of the premier players in all of college football.
Franklin and Penn State look to build on the momentum from January’s Rose Bowl victory over Utah, with a roster capable of making this one of the most dangerous teams in the nation in 2023.
