PHILADELPHIA — Penn State Lacrosse saw its season end in heartbreaking fashion, on a controversial game-winning goal by the Duke Blue Devils in the NCAA national semifinals at Lincoln Financial Field.
Duke’s Garrett Leadmon foot was clearly in the crease on the overtime game-winner, sending the Nittany Lions packing, 16-15.
The call was so egregious that the NCAA blocked replies to the account’s tweet announcing the final score.
Penn State Lacrosse fans more than voiced their displeasure on Twitter in the immediate aftermath of Saturday’s season-ending overtime loss.

With the technology we have today, it’s a shame there is no replay or coach’s challenge in NCAA Lacrosse. Because of this, Duke just won the National semifinal game versus Penn State on a goal that should not have counted. Wow.

Penn State lacrosse just got screwed. That was a clear crease violation.
Hate to see an epic semifinal end like that.

I’ve never watched college lacrosse in my life, but Penn State getting hosed on that last goal will enrage me for the rest of the day. Just awful.

Abolish the NCAA. That game was a all-time classic ruined by a missed call. Penn State Lacrosse will be back but that’s a rough way to end the season.
