Penn State Football WR Parker Washington Makes NFL Draft Call

Penn State Football wide receiver Parker Washington make the somewhat surprising decision to declare for the NFL Draft, Friday afternoon, leaving a void in the Nittany Lions‘ receiving corps.

Washington departs for the NFL, after his lone season as Penn State Football’s No. 1 wide receiver. As a redshirt sophomore, Washington pulled down 46 receptions for 611 yards with a pair of touchdowns.

So far, in the lead up to the Nittany Lions’ appearance in the Rose Bowl against Utah, Washington is the second Penn State Football standout to declare for the NFL Draft, following cornerback Joey Porter Jr.’s announcement earlier this month.

Across three seasons in Happy Valley, Washington caught 146 passes for 1,920 yards with 12 touchdowns.

The 5-foot-10 and 212-pound Washington was also a mainstay on special teams, as the Lions’ punt returner.

Washington has the potential to operate as a slot receiver in the NFL, and could immediately walk into the role as a special teams contributor, as well.
