Penn State Football Linked to Former 5-Star SEC Transfer Portal Cornerback

Losing in the Peach Bowl to Ole Miss exposed Penn State Football’s inexperience at cornerback heading into 2024.

With Penn State’s top 3 cornerbacks from 2023 officially off to the 2024 NFL draft in Kalen King, Johnny Dixon, and Daequan Hardy, Penn State Football will be looking to replace most of the production at cornerback before the 2024 season.

While the Nittany Lions have a few excellent internal options at the position in Cam Miller, Elliot Washington, and Zion Tracy, the Ole Miss offense showed Penn State may experience a few growing pains at the position next fall.

Penn State Football will also likely look to external options to fill depth at the position moving into 2024 through the transfer portal.

Penn State Football Linked to Top Transfer Portal CB

One intriguing name in the portal for Penn State is former five-star Georgia cornerback AJ Harris, who is taking a visit to Penn State this week per Lions247.

Harris played sparingly as a true freshman for Georgia in 2023, recording 8 total tackles on the season, but was a highly regarded prospect out of high school, picking up 37 offers (including an offer from Penn State) and ranking 27th overall in the country as the number two cornerback recruit according to 247Sports.

As a transfer, Harris ranks seventh overall and second among cornerback transfers.

Harris would be a welcome addition to a young Nittany Lions cornerback room heading into 2024 with first round potential in the future.
