Next Great Penn State Football TE Luke Reynolds Shows Staff’s Elite Recruiting Ability

In March 2023, Penn State Football offered a three-star tight end Luke Reynolds from Connecticut that was ranked 865th in the nation by 247Sports.

During his weekend visit to Penn State March 18th, the Nittany Lions offered Reynolds and received his commitment just seven days later on March 25th.

Despite a rise in the rankings of historic proportions and a change in offensive coordinator by Penn State Football, Reynolds never waivered in his commitment to the Nittany Lions, a usual, but very welcome trend under Penn State head coach James Franklin.

Luke Reynolds Commitment a Testament to Penn State Football Recruiting Prowess

After his commitment in March, Reynolds actually fell in the rankings for 2 months, falling down to the number 1000 prospect in the nation on March 11.

However, once spring evaluations were complete and junior season tape was fully analyzed, Reynolds meteoric rise began.

Four days after being ranked number 1000 in the class of 2024 by 247Sports, Luke Reynolds found himself in the top 300. A week later, he shot up again, to number 80 overall. Finally by signing day, Reynolds found himself earning a fifth star and ranking number 27 overall and the top tight end in the nation by 247Sports.

Setting The Expectations for Penn State Football TE Luke Reynolds

Reynolds will enroll early with plenty to gain in spring practice before hoping to take the field during his freshman season in the fall.

On signing day, in announcing Reynolds signing with Penn State, James Franklin noted that “I think the ceiling is incredibly high for you.”

Franklin further noted that Reynolds did “a ton of really good things in high school” and that Franklin thinks he’s going to “do even more in college.”

On signing day, Reynolds said he molded his game to Travis Kelce, “the way he runs routes and kind of finds open spots in the field.”

Getting Reynolds to stay committed through the turbulence of an offensive coordinator change in the midst of a meteoric rise in the rankings was an incredible job by the staff.

Now, once the 6-foot-4 inch product gets to State College, the fun begins as James Franklin and new offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki find different ways to get Reynolds involved early.

With Theo Johnson off to the NFL and Tyler Warren undecided on his future, the future of the Aces is still bright in State College with the addition of a stellar prospect in a room already loaded with talent.
