3 BOLD Penn State Football Predictions for 2023 Peach Bowl

Penn State Football takes on Ole Miss Saturday with the opportunity to become the first program in college football history to win each of the six New Year’s Six Bowl games.

To get there, Penn State must beat a top-12 Ole Miss team with a high scoring offense.

Three Bold Predictions for Penn State Football in the Peach Bowl

One of the young corners grabs an interception

Friday, Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin announced that Penn State cornerback Johnny Dixon opted out of the Peach Bowl and did not travel with the team to Atlanta. With Dixon out, and Kalen King and Daequan Hardy already opting for the 2024 NFL draft, Franklin called the Peach Bowl an “exciting opportunity” for Penn State’s young cornerbacks, Elliot Washington, Cam Miller, and Zion Tracy, who will be thrust into featured roles in 2024 for the Nittany Lions. My prediction for the Peach Bowl is that one of the three young corners intercepts Jaxon Dart Saturday afternoon.

BOTH Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen rush for 100 yards

Heading into the final regular season game against Michigan State, Penn State had not seen a 100-yard performance out of either Nick Singleton or Kaytron Allen this season.

Against Michigan State, both backs finally broke through the threshold and both tallied 100+ yards on the day.

My bold prediction is that the sophomore duo will do it again for the second game in a row against Ole Miss’ defense.

Ole Miss ranks 71st in the nation in rush defense, giving up on average 3.9 yards per rush and 150+ yards per game. With Penn State looking to control the line of scrimmage early and help Drew Allar build confidence, Penn State will focus on the run game and both Allen and Singleton will have plenty of carries to establish a rhythm.

One of the backs will break a 25+ yard rush and the second half Penn State’s running game will allow both to grind out yardage and seal a victory.

Drew Allar completes 70+% of his passes for 3+ touchdowns

Drew Allar’s first season starting for Penn State Football was mostly positive, with some highs (WVU, Iowa, Maryland, and Michigan State) and some lows (Ohio State and Michigan).

Overall, however, for a first year starter, Allar put up impressive numbers recording 2,336 passing yards and 27 total touchdowns compared to two turnovers.

Allar had one of his best performances of the season against Michigan State in the regular season finale. My bold prediction is that Allar continues his hot streak completing over 70 percent of his passes and throwing for three touchdowns.

With an excellent performance against Ole Miss, Allar puts his name on the radar of NFL scouts for round one of the 2025 NFL draft and builds the hype around the 2024 Nittany Lions all offseason.

Setting Penn State Football Peach Bowl Expectations

Penn State should have a difficult but winnable game against Ole Miss. If the Nittany Lions play the way they played in most of their ten wins this season, Penn State should cement its name in history becoming the first program to ever win all six New Year’s 6 Bowls.
