Penn State Football Recruiting: New Commitment Continues In-State Running Back Dominance

Penn State Football landed its second commit of the week in 2025 4-star running back Tiqwai Hayes from Aliquippa, Pa.

The commitment comes days after Hayes was in attendance for Penn State’s 31-0 White Out game win over Iowa this past Saturday.

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, Hayes is the No. 32 running back in the 2025 247 Sports Composite rankings.

Hayes’ other offers included Cincinnati, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Pittsburgh.

Hayes is the second running back in Penn State’s 2025 class, joining 4-star Kiandrea Barker from Texas.

How Hayes Continues Penn State Football RB Dominance

An in-state running back committing to Penn State is nothing new, in fact it’s the norm.

Since the 2015 cycle, the Nittany Lions have landed the following Pennsylvania running back recruits: Saquon Barkley (2015), Andre Robinson (2015), Miles Sanders (2016), Journey Brown (2017), Nick Singleton (2022), London Montgomery (2023), Quinton Martin (2024) and Messiah Mickens (2026).

Hayes bridges the gap in the 2025 class, meaning Penn State has now kept home a blue-chip running back recruit in five straight recruiting classes.

This dominance in recruiting is nothing new for running backs coach Ja’Juan Seider, and it looks like there is no signs of it slowing down either.

Hayes is the fourth commit in Penn State’s 2025 class, and the second one to join the class this week, following 4-star LB DJ McClary jumping on board on Sunday.

The Nittany Lions are headed for another elite class.
