Penn State Football Defensive Upgrade Unveiled: Former SEC Cornerback’s Unexpected Visit Sparks Optimism
While Penn State Football is trending for former five-star Georgia cornerback AJ Harris, the Nittany Lions had another former five-star SEC transfer portal cornerback pop up on a visit this week.
Texas A&M cornerback Tony Grimes posted his visit to Penn State to X (formerly twitter) this morning after entering the transfer portal from Texas A&M in December.

Why Penn State Football is on Tony Grimes’ Radar
Grimes had a great relationship with Penn State cornerbacks coach Terry Smith before reclassifying and committing to North Carolina in 2020, calling Penn State cornerbacks coach Terry Smith his “favorite coach for a long time” during his recruitment.
Now after stops at North Carolina and Texas A&M, Grimes is back in the transfer portal and visiting Penn State this week.
In three seasons at North Carolina, Grimes tallied 97 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, and one interception. Grimes did not play this season at Texas A&M due to injury before entering the transfer portal.
What Tony Grimes Would Bring Penn State Football
Grimes would give Penn State’s 2024 cornerback room experience that transfer portal target AJ Harris and the young cornerbacks at Penn State do not have that would be invaluable for a 2024 run.
