Penn State Football experienced the perils of transfer portal recruiting.
On Thursday, Big Ten foe Maryland announced the addition of transfer portal offensive lineman Alan Herron. Herron had previously been committed to Penn State since December 11th and has not announced the change of plans.

Herron was a division II offensive tackle looking to make the jump up to division I football.
The Georgia prospect would have had three years to play two years and was ranked as a three-star transfer portal prospect and the number 10 overall offensive tackle in the portal according to 247Sports.
Where Penn State Football Goes from Here
With the loss of Herron, Penn State Football is back down to one transfer portal commitment, former Tulsa kicker Chase Meyer. Last week at a press conference, James Franklin noted that Penn State is “not a big transfer portal team” but that Penn State does look in the portal for talent.
The search is ongoing for at least one wide receiver and now, presumably, another offensive tackle to provide depth next season.
